What is DCK9 About?

DC Metro Working Dogs - DCK9 aims to educate, inspire and assist all levels of individuals in the Maryland, Virginia & Washington DC Metro area interested in competing in dog sports.

The DC Metro Working Dog Club strives to create a community of working/sport dog trainers, handlers, breeders and enthusiasts. It produces a friendly, cooperative environment in which to train dogs and also fosters an encouraging, progressive approach for individuals of all levels.

DCK9 promotes the safety and responsibility of its human and canine members.

Participation

Members of DCK9 are training alongside professionals with years of experience who are currently competing in protection sports.

The atmosphere we provide allows even novices to use us as starting points. Please read about DCK9 for more info on working with our club.

Why join DCK9?

For recognition, inspiration, and a resource we can all refer to when making the case for working dogs. This is sorely needed, even today. More and more handlers are taking the leap, but not enough have.

One of the greatest benefits to members is access to our training staff, which is committed to providing training structure and guidance designed to meet your individual trial and competition goals.

As a member of DCK9, you will be part of a network of handlers and trainers who have similar personal and competitive goals. Trainers and dogs of similar ability will help improve your performance. Year-round training takes place in the Washington DC metro area.

Membership

We would like to see as many working dogs as possible. The DC Metro Working Dogs club is about functional, practical training and not the latest tricks used by 98% of the recreational pet world.

The only real requirement we have is that your dog works.
